Sea-view trekking routes in Sardinia: our advices

Raise your hand if you are looking for sea-view trekking routes in Sardinia. As the summer season gets closer and closer, the desire to discover Italy’s most beautiful walks and in particular those with a sea view is awakening.

We move on to Sardinia. Fasten your seatbelts and your walking shoes: let’s go.

Where to find sea-view trekking routes in Sardinia

The sea-view trekking routes in Sardinia allow you to discover breathtaking landscapes. Through Mediterranean maquis and ancient mule tracks with a view of the sea, you can grind out kilometres and kilometres with your eyes always on that stupendous blue expanse.

Sardinia is famous for these landscapes and its natural beauty. On the one hand, there are the sheer cliffs and golden sandy coves and on the other the mountains. A beautiful contrast that characterises this fantastic island, loved by Italians but also by many foreigners who find here their place in the world.

For those who want to get to know real naturalistic paradises far from the most touristy routes, we recommend some of the trekking routes with a sea view in Sardinia.

Coast of Mines (Costa delle Miniere)

Between Buggerru and Masua lies the most popular sea-view trekking route in Sardinia. Its peculiarity is that it is a path that is not only scenic but also has an archaeological value. On the road linking the two villages there are, in fact, rocks with fossils that could refer to the first forms of life to appear on Earth. A discovery of enormous importance that has made this a UNESCO World Heritage trekking route. A not insignificant detail for those seeking both scenic beauty and historical and archaeological references.

Another gem is the Henry Gallery. It is a mine that crosses the rock forming a real labyrinth with windows overlooking the sea. A must for anyone coming to this area who loves trekking and discovering places like the one just described. And that’s not all, because for years this area has been a paradise for surfers.

On the way there is also the abandoned village of Planu Sartu, suggestive and peculiar like everything else you will find in front of you in these 10 kilometres to be covered always with your eyes wide open to such beauty. Departing from Buggerru and covering the entire route in about 7 hours, you arrive at the zinc mine of Masua with the beautiful beaches that populate the area.

The advice is to tackle the Costa delle Miniere path only if you are well trained. It is not a route for everyone, even if the spectacle that opens before your eyes deserves a thorough visit.

Porto Ferro Dunes Trail

Also the Porto Ferro Dunes Path is an option to take into consideration if you are looking for the most beautiful sea-view trekking routes in Sardinia. Let’s face it: it’s hard to find views that aren’t worth at least a visit on this island, but this one in particular is stunningly beautiful.

Compared to the first path, this one has a shorter duration and a lower difficulty and is therefore also suitable for those who are not perfectly trained. The landscapes that can be discovered if one chooses to walk the Porto Ferro Dunes path will remain impressed in one’s memory, among pine forests, dunes and cultivated fields. We are in the vicinity of Lake Baratz and the road can be travelled on foot or by bike, but also on horseback for those who want to treat themselves to a unique experience.

The Porto Ferro beach is a must-see here, embraced by Mediterranean scrub on one side and a crystal-clear sea to dive into on the other.

Other sea-view trekking routes in Sardinia

We also recommend the path to Cala Goloritzè, which takes walkers to one of the most beautiful beaches in Sardinia. The starting point of this path is a small dirt road in the locality of Su Purteddu and from here you arrive at Cala Goloritzé. We are in the eastern part of Sardinia, which is one of the most appreciated for its beautiful landscapes and unspoilt scenery. This path can also be tackled by everyone without the need for special training and allows you to dive into a blue sea at the end of it.

Excursion lovers should not miss the opportunity to discover the Pedra Longa path. We are in the Gulf of Orosei and here you can discover a beautiful and peculiar rocky outcrop that characterises the area.

This stretch is the beginning of another famous trekking path in Sardinia. We are talking about the Selvaggio Blu path and this is the initial part of it. The walk takes about 4 hours to cover 9 km. Along the way you will encounter various differences in height but also beautiful views such as the Pedra Longa spire, the Loppodine cliff and much more. An easy path to tackle.

Sardinia is full of paths, trails and places that are still unexplored and waiting to be discovered. For those who want to spend a summer between the sea and movement, this is the perfect destination. It has a lot to offer tourists, but it also allows you to discover destinations far from the summer chaos and the most popular tourist routes. Those who love nature will appreciate this possibility and the trekking paths in Sardinia are only one of the many things to appreciate in this region.
