04 Feb Trekking paths on the sea in Campania: our tips
Have you ever considered organising a holiday based on trekking paths on the sea in Campania? Yes, because the region offers not only sun, sea and architectural beauty but also some of the most beautiful walks in Italy.
In the collective imagination, Campania means good food, Vesuvius, the Maschio Angioino, Capri and the Amalfi Coast. The many archaeological and historical sites are one of the pride and joy of Italy in the world such as the sea-view hiking trails.
This aspect of Campania is waiting to be discovered. Both those who love trekking and those who would like to try their hand at this type of adventure for the first time should consider this destination. Why? We explain it to you by presenting the trekking paths on the sea in Campania.
The best trekking paths on the sea in Campania
Beyond the traditional tourist routes, Campania offers a lot to those who love trekking and the concept of slow tourism. There are many hiking trails in Campania and those with a view of the sea are among the most beautiful.
As you walk along them, you can discover the natural beauty and landscape of the region and enjoy an unforgettable experience.
The Sentiero degli Dei, overhanging the sea, is 8 km long and links the Amalfi and Sorrento coasts.
In Cilento, there is also the Sentiero degli Infreschi, which starts in Marina di Camerota and for a few kilometres allows you to enjoy a breathtaking view, between the white Cilento beaches and the Mediterranean scrub that characterises the area.
Here there are also several caves that can be visited, allowing you to come into contact with a past as remote as it is fascinating. These are trekking routes that, with a little training, can be tackled even by beginners and amateurs.
The Sentiero degli Dei
Undoubtedly, the Sentiero degli Dei is the most famous of the trekking paths on the sea in Campania. This trail connects two of the most beautiful areas of the region and runs from Agerola, in the heart of the Amalfi Coast, to Nocelle, a small hamlet of Positano. The panorama that unfolds before the eyes of those who undertake this walk is breathtaking. The Amalfi Coast and Capri are right there, filling the eyes with beauty and the mind with unique memories.
We recommend that you take the path starting from Agerola towards Nocelle, so as to take advantage of a slight descent that will make the walk easier.
Specifically, to begin the Sentiero degli Dei you must go to Bomerano, a hamlet of Agerola served by SITA buses. If you start from Positano you can get to Bomerano in about 2 hours by bus, while if you start from Sorrento the journey time is 3 hours.
Walking from Agerola to Nocelle you can enjoy a wonderful panorama that is difficult to forget. The entire route of the Sentiero degli Dei is duly marked by specific and clearly visible signs bearing the word 02. Following them will make it easier to reach the end of the path without getting lost.
At the point where the path becomes more tortuous, it is possible to admire the views of the beautiful Vallone Grarelle. From there, you will soon reach Nocelle.
If you do this path in the summer, we have an additional tip. From Nocelle you can reach the beautiful beach of Arienzo, where you can enjoy a dip in the blue of crystal clear waters. From the beach to the centre of Positano you will then have to walk another kilometre.
The Sentiero degli Dei is always open and is free of charge. An experience to be had for those who love walking and losing themselves in beauty.
The Sentiero degli Infreschi
The other remarkable path is the Sentiero degli Infreschi, another gem for those who love trekking. Here we are in the Cilento area and this path, about 10 km long (round trip), is not very difficult and can be tackled by everyone.
A little less well known than the Sentiero degli Dei, this one is also very well known and appreciated by those who love the genre.
The path joins Marina di Camerota and Scario and those who decide to walk it will be able to visit some wonderful beaches along the way, such as Lentiscelle, Cala Bianca and Baia degli Infreschi.
Baia degli Infreschi is one of the most beautiful and characteristic beaches in this area. It is a real pleasure to walk along the path and to get here to enjoy this explosion of beauty. A true paradise on the Tyrrhenian side, which Legambiente already indicated in 2014 as the most beautiful beach in Italy.
But the path also allows you to reach Pozzallo beach and Cala Bianca, which are two other beautiful beaches in the area. To tell the truth, visiting the Masseta coastline is a unique experience. We are in the heart of the protected marine area of the National Park of Cilento, Vallo di Diano and Alburni.
